TaskPop is a conceptual productivity platform created to explore how sound can enhance digital organisation tools. Designed for busy professionals, the platform centres on clarity, ease, and structured workflows. As part of Fonetik’s internal benchmarking programme, TaskPop provided a controlled environment to test how a considered sonic identity could support focus without introducing distraction.
Defining the Brief and Strategic Direction
The core question behind TaskPop was straightforward: how can sound improve the feel of productivity software while remaining unobtrusive?
Using the Fonetik Framework™, we simulated discovery and workshop stages to define tone, values, and intended emotional effect. The identity needed to feel modern, human, and composed. Sound had to reinforce action, support concentration, and remain consistent across dashboards, calendars, reminders, and onboarding flows.
We identified key interaction moments such as task completion, notifications, and brand introduction, then translated these into clear tonal and emotional guidelines: clean digital tones with subtle warmth, restrained melodic movement, and a sense of calm momentum.
Deliverables: A Cohesive Sonic System
The TaskPop audio identity includes a sonic logo built around an ascending pluck motif (C4–E4–G4–A4) with soft decay and a defined tonal resolution. The upward contour conveys progress and forward movement in a concise, recognisable form.
Supporting this is a loopable brand theme structured in C major, centred on a rhythmic guitar riff layered with electric bass, ambient pads, soft pluck synth, and light percussion. Subtle reverb and delay introduce space without blurring articulation. Designed for onboarding videos and dashboard animations, the theme maintains energy while remaining supportive within a focus-driven environment.
The UX cue library reinforces usability: a concise task-complete gesture (C4–E4–G5), a rising-falling notification contour (E4–G4–D5), and a restrained downward error cue (D4). Each was tested against common interface scenarios to maintain flow and avoid interruption.
TaskPop demonstrates how structured sonic systems can strengthen product experience and brand recognition. Every asset was developed through strategy, ensuring usability and tonal alignment. The result is a practical template for SaaS and productivity platforms seeking consistency, recognisability, and a more intentional digital presence.
