Abstract

The “Kulturkiste” (culture box) is a small mobile Podium which allows you to build up a small stage in the matter of minutes. Sound and light equipment are included and the whole event can be run on battery power.

Description

The Kulturkiste is a project we launched at the request of the city of Darmstadt. The city wanted a small, mobile stage with which to liven up the city center. The result was the Kulturkiste. A stage mounted on an electric cart that can be transported by one person and set up within about 15 minutes. And the whole thing is self-sufficient.

Transport
Transportation takes place using a battery-powered cart. Transporting the stage requires no effort. Nor is it necessary to drive a truck to a pedestrian zone or other traffic-calmed area. The cart’s battery has a range of over 20 km. When folded, the Kulturkiste contains all the stage equipment on board.

Setup
The stage can be easily set up by one person. Simply attach the feet to the stage elements and unfold them. In the case behind the stage, everything is prepared for the performance. A stage box allows artists to connect directly to the mixing console, which is already pre-wired to the system. Just connect the speakers and you’re ready to go. Everything is configured for quick and, above all, easy setup. Plug and play, as it should be.

Power supply
The Kulturkiste can be operated with either a fixed power supply or entirely on battery technology if there’s no power outlet available. The batteries are distributed across multiple systems, eliminating the need for a large battery pack. The cart, the stage power, the speakers, and the spotlights have their own batteries. This makes it possible to operate an event completely independently for several hours. Literally: “Wherever!” Since the cart has its own battery, return transport is guaranteed.

Recharching
The Kulturkiste has all the necessary charging devices on board. After an event, simply plug the box into a power outlet, and it’s ready for the next event the next day.

The Kulturkiste has redefined the concept of the “pop-up stage.” It’s no problem to host events at multiple locations in a very short time. Whether in city centers, at festivals, fairs, congress centers or at private parties. A short briefing is enough and virtually anyone can hold an event with the Kulturkiste.
