Profile

Born in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, I grew up as a competitive gymnast, spending much of my childhood in the gym. After a series of injuries forced me to step away from gymnastics, I channeled my energy into music, and recording. By the time I started high school I had begun recording instruments and exploring electronic production, which soon developed into a deeper passion for audio.
My dedication to music led me to the Perpich Center for Arts Education, a public performing arts high school in Minneapolis, MN. Where I studied subjects including music theory, songwriting, world music and percussion, jazz history, counterpoint, and improvisation. While at Perpich, I also earned a year’s worth of business-focused college credits through the PSEO program. It was during this time that I dug into mixing and live sound, sparking my long-term interest in audio engineering.
To further develop my expertise, I attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences, where I gained hands-on experience in sound design, mixing and mastering, audio recording and editing, live sound, game audio, and broadcast. I completed the program with an internship at Monkeyland Audio, where I was able to apply my skills in a professional environment.
I currently split my time between MN and CA. Constantly on the move whether I am in the studio mixing foley or out in the woods field recording. I travel and remotely manage clients through my business, Akane Audio.
