Music plays an important role in many of our daily lives — whether we intentionally listen to it while walking or cooking, or encounter it in the background on the radio, TV, in shops, or restaurants. It holds remarkable power: a favorite song can instantly lift our mood, while another might make us want to dance, unwind, reflect, or even cry. But what shapes our musical choices? Why do certain melodies or harmonies evoke particular emotions? Can music itself be inherently joyful or sorrowful? And do we all experience the same feelings when we hear the same piece?
